From Mark’s site:
The guy on the Harley has been out and about for some time now. He’s convinced himself that he’s turned a corner and that life is improving slowly. There’s a lady who goes for coffee nearby and our man has started chatting to her…nothing too heavy…polite conversation. He suspects that she’s rich or married to it, judging by the quality of the vehicle she drives; a new Subaru Forester.
One day she follows him home to his apartment and bursts in to tears on his doorstep…She confesses that her marriage is a sham. Her husband is never home and the kids, Liam and Caleb, are driving her mad. She feels lost. What can she do? Her life is meaningless.
Our man is overwhelmed with a new sense of purpose. He becomes convinced that she needs him. He falls in love with her. They go for rides on his Harley.
But though her pain is real it is only temporary. Nothing changes. It is her children she cares about above all else, and even though her life is filled with routine, she cannot escape as he has. For her security is everything. She is a kept woman. Gradually, with stylish discretion, she makes herself unavailable. Naturally our man is devastated. He learns to accept the truth. They were not meant for each other. Life returns to normal. He still has the Harley.
Are you in love again, Mr Jones?
Do you feel the magic in your bones?
Did she play you like a charm?
Did she burn you when she melted in your arms?
Are you proud of what you got?
You’re not the only one who’s got the lot
Did she do you harm? Did she twist your arm?
Are you ready to untie the knot?
You’re just a shoulder to cry on
You’re just a shoulder to cry on
You’re just a beautiful tragedy Mr Jones
A shoulder to cry on
She’s a princess with a need
A pretty woman with a mouth to feed
And all the dirty boys come and go
But up in heaven all the neighbours never know
That she lives on Chestnut Street
Where all the bluebird people meet
She’s a complicated girl from a perfect world
And you’re in too deep
You’re just a shoulder to cry on
You’re just a shoulder to cry on
You’re just a beautiful tragedy Mr Jones
A shoulder to cry on
Are you in love again?
In love again Mr Jones?
There’s magic in your bones
You’re feeling it Mr Jones
And she breaks on through
What else can you do?
You’re just a shoulder to cry on
You’re just a shoulder to cry on
You’re just a beautiful tragedy Mr Jones
A shoulder to cry on
A shoulder to cry on
You’re just a shoulder to cry on
You’re just a shoulder to cry on
You’re just a shoulder to cry on
You’re just a beautiful tragedy Mr Jones
A shoulder to cry on
A shoulder to cry on
A shoulder to cry on
