Jack comments from the Reliving Life to the Full album:
Written by American Gary Burgess, I first heard this song on Vince Bell’s Phoenix album and immediately fell in love with it. It’s been a standard for me ever since. Nicky Del Rey on guitar, Ash Davies on drums, Doug Robertson on bass, Matt Heydon on keys. Barry Stockley co-producing. The tragi-comic tale of the Frankenstein monster.
I got stitches all over my body
My feet are too big for my head
I don’t know why they put me here with the living
I sure wish that I was dead
My brain is always running and ticking
My arms and legs tremble to my feet
I try to walk straight, tall and narrow
It’s just a stagger with a beat
They call me Frankenstein
It’s not even my name
I don’t know my own name
I don’t know what I’ve done
I don’t know where I’ve been
I told him Victor you’ve got to build me a woman
Who will see me for myself
It’s so lonely living here without someone to love
I got to look out for myself
They call me Frankenstein
It’s not even my name
I don’t know my own name
I don’t know what I’ve done
I don’t know where I’ve been
I seem to scare everyone in the village
They said I killed someone’s little girl
I remember a child with flowers by the river
Everything is such a blur
They call me Frankenstein
It’s not even my name
I don’t know my own name
I don’t know what I’ve done
I don’t know where I’ve been
I’m an innocent man
[Gary Burgess – arrangement by Vince Bell]
