Captain Beaky, live 1983

Source: 1983 01 (estimate) Hunters Live Cassette

Warning: This is a truly horrendous introduction to Hunters and Collectors. If you are new, do NOT download this – it is unrepresentative of the works of Hunters and Collectors!

On the other hand, if you are a mad early 80’s alternative fan that reckons things haven’t been right since they ‘went all mainstream’ with Human Frailty, then we have some craziness for you. Captain Beaky is a completely unreleased and almost unheard song from The Fireman’s Curse era that never appeared on any album or single. The early fans will love it.

This follows a request from fan Nathan for either Judas Sheep, Mr Right or Curse. We have already done Judas Sheep, will do Curse at some stage, and am not sure if we have Mr Right. Either way, in hunting down Mr Right or Curse, we found this track and thought… we will raise your crazy request and provide something even crazier. This is what you get with a fan managed Internet site; we can only hope for forgiveness from the band… 🙂

I have to say, this is actually less crazy than I thought it’d be. It sounds a lot more solid than half the stuff off of The Fireman’s Curse.

So many quality tracks that could have been on (and improved) TFC. Gunga Din, Sex, Stiff, Long Walk Home. What other oddities are you hiding from us Stuart, haha?

  2. Stuart says:

The Walsh Way. And more 😉

Love it. Love the whole lot. Best tho from Payload thru to Jaws , no make that Frailty… but the rest is pretty freaking good too. Hell of a legacy for a songwriter to progress from the shadow of the band. Full points Mark Seymour , keep up the good work you are still producing. Look forward to seeing you again at Milton theatre (if you’re watching). Cheers.
