What a night. A joyous, passionate celebration of everything a live concert can be. The band has lost nothing in the past 14 years. They certainly seemed to enjoy themselves, might hopefully inspire a few more shows over the coming years.
Well after not seeing them for decades I must say this was very exciting. They are quite different from way back when; still a beast but something different and potent. A few points
1) Is it just me or Seymour brutal on his telecaster. I really miss his electric playing, he is a great guitar player with lots of taste and power.
2) They played all the songs you would expect plus some others but damn there are still so many other great ones they could have played. They got a lot of quality stuff.
3) True Tears of Joy with different vocals could have fitted on Curse. Listen closely. Conversely Sway could fit in with the rest of the material.
4) Nothing like the Horns Of Contempt exist anywhere else and they are just a pleasure to experience.
5) A seven piece band sounding this crisp and clear and powerful. No murk, mud or imbalance. That is why you credit your mixer as a member. R Miles is amazing.
6) Barry used to annoy me, but I realise now that was me not liking change. He’s great and I wish they had played Easy and other songs Barry can shine on.
7) They still screwed up The Slab, Skin Of Our Teeth and a few other bits… I even spotted John make a mistake!! Keeps them real, this isn’t formula rock.
8) I think a new H&C record is within the realms of something that could be great.
9) Stuff like 42 Wheels when the rhythm section pumps and everyone steps up to the plate just shows why they are one hell of a band, unparalleled and sorely missed.
Great show… lets hope they play some tours!
