Your H&C Set List? :)

Here’s a challenge for fans…

You’ve got your tickets. You’re heading to the show. You’re energised and you haven’t even had a beer.

Pick your ultimate set list.

Strictly 20 tracks to keep a limit.

Check the songs list for inspiration.

The Crucible tribute showed that tracks fans and the band dig can differ.

Put your list in the online comments for this thread so the band can see it when they do rehearsals 🙂

    Here’s 20 I came up… 🙂

    Talking to a Stranger
    Skin of our Teeth
    Towtruck
    The Slab
I Couldn’t Give It To You
    Little Chalkie
    Say Goodbye
    Throw Your Arms Around Me
    Inside A Fireball
Do You See What I See?

    Holy Grail
    True Tears of Joy
    Where Do You Go?
    Hear No Evil
    Back in the Hole
    Wasted in the Sun

  2. Stephen says:

Always a difficult one. After an initial 30 it came down to a fight to the death between Lazy Summer Day and Lumps of Lead. Oh to hear that bass on Lumps of Lead played one last time, but Lazy won, just on the basis that it’s more likely to be played than Lumps. No offence to Throw your arms or Holy Grail…but I’m sure you can squeeze them into the encore (along with World of Stone).
If they choose this setlist, I’m flying in from Barcelona. $#%@ the marriage!
    So here goes….in order.

    1. Talking to a stranger
    2. Head above water
    3. Is there anybody in there?
    4. Back on the breadline
    5. Hear no Evil
    6. Do you see what I see?
    7. Lazy Summers Day
    8. Mr. Bigmouth
    9. Betty’s Worry or The Slab
    10. Under the Sun
    11. The way you live
    12. True Tears of joy
    13. 42 Wheels
    14. Blind Eye
    15. So Long Ago
    16. Run, run, run
    17. Know your product
    18. When the river runs dry
    19. Skin of our teeth
    20. Say goodbye

  3. Gary says:

I thought long and hard about this and composed my list without peeking at anyone else’s first. I drew on the fond memories that I have of seeing the band touring in support of specific albums including What’s a Few Men, Ghost Nation and Cut, as well as every cherished note from the boxed set.

    01 Holy Grail
    02 Everything’s on Fire
    03 Blind Eye
    04 Easy
05 Is there Anybody In There?
    06 Grindstone
    07 Hear No Evil
    08 Breakneck Road
    09 Inside a Fireball
    10 Under the Sun
    11 Say Goodbye
    12 Stuck on You
    13 Talking to a Stranger
    14 I Believe
    15 Living Daylight
    16 Wasted in the Sun
17 Do You See What I See?
18 Throw Your Arms Around Me
    19 Know Your Product
20 When the River Runs Dry

The final two could be considered encore songs. Close contenders that I had to sacrifice from the list were Gut Feeling (very clever lyrics!) and The Price of Freedom.

    • Stephen says:

Apart from the obvious suspects, it seems Under The Sun is in the running for most popular album track! Gut Feeling and Price of Freedom = Great call. Make those 2 the encore.

      • Gary says:

The call-outs for me are Breakneck Road, Living Daylights and Under the Sun. Looks like I’m in good company with the latter. I recall how great it was when I saw the band perform it at my first ever H&C gig, Hordern Pavillion 1987. Same for Breakneck Road.

I could have happily added Relief and This Morning too, but I guess you’ve got to draw the line somewhere and give others a go too.

        Cheers,
        Gary.

  4. Mark Haslam says:

I hate to think what the band thinks of this list…its entirely selfish of course! Just compiled from fond memories of songs I flogged to death while driving, and songs I have fond memories from hot sweaty gigs.

…but I really would die happy if I got to hear them play Run Run Run for 10 mins….one last time.

    1.Run Run Run
    2.Towtruck
    3.Talking To A stanger
    4.42 Wheels
    5.Lumps of Lead
    6.World OF Stone

    8.Little Chalkie
    9.Slab
    10.Sway
    11.Throw Your Arms Around Me

    18.Everythings on Fire
    19.Stuck on You
    20.Say Goodbye

  5. John (Jobby) O'Brien says:

Yes Stuart! Great idea. I’m not going to do 20, because there’s some fairly obvious ones I think we’ll all have (I imagine the band will definitely put in Stranger, Slab, Goodbye, Throw, See, River, Blind, Grail, Tears and Go? – so that’s 10 songs I’m not worried about). I’m interested in the songs at the margins, so I’ll offer 10:
(I did it only after seeing Stu’s list)

    1. Skin of our Teeth: was a highlight of the V8 gig and should continue, however if the band were feeling like re-learning another old song, I’d happily replace it with “Run Run Run”. This would be good for those of us doing multiple gigs. I know this is a big ask, and I wouldn’t expect both in the same show.

    2. Towtruck
    3. Red Lane – underrated Jaws track. Controversial I know!
    4. I Believe – great song for the encore I reckon!
    5. This Morning – is a must for me.
    6. Living Daylight – Inside a Fireball is too common for me
    7. Under the Sun – great track!
    8. Ladykiller (or maybe Betrayer) – something a bit different from Demon Flower
    9. Those Days Are Gone – farewell from Juggernaut
    10. Know Your Product

Honourable mentions to Relief, We the People, Little Chalkie – sorry, you missed out this time.

  6. Nathan Wheldon says:

So hard to choose just 20. There are a few really solid ones I would always want and then a bunch that may change depending on my mood. If the band is reading and there is a doubt add songs from the first three albums. In order of album release:

    1. Talking To A Stranger
    2. Alligator Engine
    3. Tender Kinder Baby
    4. Mr. Right
    5. 42 Wheels
    6. I Couldn’t Give It To You
    7. Betty’s Worry or The Slab
    8. Say Goodbye
    9. Is There Anybody In There
    10. Dog
    11. Everything’s On Fire
    12. Throw Your Arms Around Me
    13. Do You See What I See
    14. Under The Sun
    15. Real World
    16. Faraway Man
    17. When The River Runs Dry
    18. Blind Eye
    19. Crime Of Passion
    20. You Stole My Thunder

  7. Glenn Caterer says:

My ultimate setlist would include a bit of a best of chronology plus a couple of old favourites from the living daylights EP and a Paul Kelly cameo to work through Parting Glass and a couple of others.

    OK here goes:

    1. Talking To A Stranger
    2. Lumps of Lead
    3. The Way To Go Out
    4. Little Chalkie
    5. The Slab
    6. January Rain
    7. Say Goodbye
    8. Everything’s On Fire
    9. The Living Daylights
    10. Is There Anybody In There
    11. Do You See What I See
    12. What’s A Few Men
    13. When The River Runs Dry

    17. We The People

    Encore (With Paul Kelly)
    18. Parting Glass
    19. This Morning
    20. Stuck On You

  8. Matthew Masterton says:

    Going down from album:

    01. Talking to a Stranger
    02. Skin of Our Teeth / Alligator Engine (w/ The Panics)
    03. 42 Wheels
    04. I Wouldn’t Give It Too You / Red Lane
    05. The Slab
    06. Say Goodbye
    07. Throw Your Arms Around Me (1986 Version)
    08. Is There Anybody In There?
    09. Do You See What I See? (w/ British India)
    10. So Long Ago / What Are You Waiting For?
    11. Droptank / Living Daylight / Inside A Fireball

    13. Blind Eye
    14. Head Above Water
    15. Holy Grail
    16. True Tears of Joy
    17. Back In The Hole / The One and Only You
    18. Panic In The Shade / Betrayer
    19. Human Kind / Long Way To The Water
    20. Know Your Product (The Saint Cover) / Any Other B-Side

With so many top notch songs, it’s hard to pick only one so most I’ve gone between two. So I guess I’m calling this the realistic set-list 😀

With three of the artists performing on Crucible joining the Tour, Why not get them up on stage to help perform the song they covered?

  9. Melissa says:

This is a totally self indulgent set list…. I’m sure some songs the average punter would never have heard! Obviously I am adding some of the favs… Here goes and in no particular order:

As much as “Stuck on you” is a great song, it can not be played twice when there are so many other contenders begging to be played….so 4. should be Red lane

    Take me back to the early days! One of my favourite gigs was at the ‘old’ Chevron Hotel in Kings Cross…. in the very early days where, standing at the very front, the stage height was just above my knees and you could ‘touch’ the band…. My list and in no particular order;

  21. Gibbo says:

As painfull as this was, it was a lot of fun. To only select 20 songs from the hundreds is a mean task. Who would put their hand up to tell ‘when the river runs dry’ that it didn’t make the cut, or ” sorry, ‘carry me’, just can’t play you this time. No easy task! But what a dream come true, to have your own Hunters set list.
    Here goes,
