*Free concert – 6pm to 8pm Saturday September 28 at the MCG – gates open 5:30pm*
The great Australian rock band Hunters and Collectors are reforming for the AFL Grand Final on Saturday the 28th of September 2013!
As well as providing the half time entertainment, Hunters and Collectors will be performing at The Virgin Australia Premiership Party. This free post-match fan event is open to the public following the conclusion of the game. The 2013 AFL Premiers will also be presented for the first time to fans at The Premiership Party. Birds of Tokyo will also be performing – as pre-game entertainment and at The Premiership Party.
The AFL Grand Final performance coincides with the release of Crucible, which can be purchased in stores and on-line the previous day. Crucible is a mighty tribute album featuring many of the biggest names in music, from Birds of Tokyo to The Living End to Paul Kelly to Neil Finn and Eddie Vedder.
Hunters and Collectors formed in 1981, producing 9 studio albums, 3 live albums, tens of singles and hundreds of powerful concert performances. Since disbanding in 1998, they have only played one full show, in 2011, leaving fans desperately hoping for more.
The Hunters are also supporting Bruce Springsteen in Melbourne on the 15th of February 2014.
Great news!
This will be the first time I’ve ever watched an AFL game…..
Any details on the full gig as I will be in Melbourne that weekend!
Hey. A bit hard to research at work, but my understanding is that it will on the grounds at the end of the match. I’ll also be in Melbourne on that weekend; if we both can’t get in, we should meet up and cry in our beer.
A tribute album, a performance at the AFL Grand Final, and two concert dates next year supporting The Boss. For a band that should be kicking back, the Hunters are really going into overdrive!
My 2 favourites in one day – Afl & Hunnas (awesome)!
OK… here are the details:

Well Stuart hopefully we can sneak into it and be among the thousands of very drunk supporters.
