The organisers behind the “Jarrah’s Fight for Sight” Go Fund Me campaign, have announced details of a benefit concert to be held next month, with all proceeds going to Jarrah and his family.

Nine-year-old Jarrah Podesta has lost both of his eyes to retinoblastoma – a rare form of malignant cancer that only occurs in young children.

Concer for Jarrah an all-ages, family-friendly benefit concert will be held at the Campbells Creek Community Centre in Elizabeth Street on Sunday October 21 from 2.30pm.

Featuring some of Australia’s finest rock musicians, the concert will include performances from acclaimed vocalist James Macdonald of leading ABBA tribute act BABBA, and locally based electric violinist Nigel MacLean.

MacLean and Macdonald will then be joined by an all-star band for a special one-off concert featuring local musician Brett Garsed on guitar, Joe Creighton on bass and Doug Falconer, another Castlemaine local on the drum stool.

Falconer played with Hunters and Collectors throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and again in 2014 when the band reunited for a series of headlining shows across Australia.

Guitar virtuoso Brett Garsed, best known as a long-time member of the John Farnham Band, also played with US-based 90s rockers Nelson, and is renowned internationally as a ‘guitarist’s guitarist’.

Joe Creighton, arguably Australia’s leading session bassist, has recorded and toured with the cream of Australian and international artists including John Farnham, Kylie Minogue, Boz Scaggs, Olivia Newton John, Black Sorrows and Ray Charles.

“We want this to be a really special day for Jarrah,” organiser Kym Cross said.

“He loves music and with such an amazing lineup of talent, who are all donating their time for free, this show will be a celebration of great music that Jarrah will have memories of forever. In every way, this is intended to be a concert for Jarrah.”

This one-off show will delight music fans of all ages, and promises to be an afternoon of fabulous entertainment. Tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for children over 12, with children under 12 free. (Under 12s must be accompanied by an adult).
