Mark Seymour has announced a new album, and a run of August East Coast theatre dates with his band The Undertow.

Mayday will be released on May 29, and follows his 2013 covers collection Seventh Heaven Club which saw Mark and the Undertow cover tracks from the likes of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Dave Dobbyn, Otis Redding and The Pogues. Mark also reformed Hunters and Collectors in 2013, supporting the Stones and Springsteen, playing the AFL grand final, and basically ticking off every band’s bucket list in a matter of months.

A press release from his label explains Mayday is a deeply personal album that focuses on the concept of home “be it the rehearsal room to the detention centre to the pub.” Funnily enough the forthcoming Suze Demarchi record also explores this theme.

Watch the video for Mayday track ‘Football Train’ below, then check out the tour dates.

Frontier Members pre-sale starts next Tuesday 26 May at 2pm (AEST) with general public tickets on sale from 10am local time, Friday 29 May.
Saturday, 1 August: Factory Theatre, Sydney
Friday, 7 August: National Theatre, Melbourne
