Auckland New Date Accounced + Hunters & Collectors to Join the Bill as Special Guests

It’s the news New Zealand has been waiting for. The Rolling Stones today confirmed the rescheduled dates and venues for both the Australian and New Zealand legs of their highly anticipated ’14 On Fire’ tour. Now, Frontier Touring is also delighted to announce that one of Australia’s most iconic rock outfits, Hunters & Collectors, will join the Stones at Auckland Mt Smart Stadium on the new date of Saturday 22 November 2014.

Visceral, mighty, and responsible for classics such as ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me’, ‘Talking to a Stranger’,‘ Holy Grail’, ‘When The River Runs Dry’, ‘Do You See What I See’, ‘Say Goodbye’ and countless others, Hunters & Collectors will bring their powerful, ferocious live show to New Zealand with the Stones this November. Having just fare welled thousands of Aussie fans at wineries across the country as recent headliners of the ‘A DAY ON THE GREEN’ concert series, last weekend the reformed Hunters & Collectors performed two final indoor theatre shows, culminating in a sold-out, emotional goodbye at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre.

“When Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder calls himself an unabashed fan, you know Hunters & Collectors deserve respect.” – Newcastle Herald

“It remains a ritual of homegrown rock. A heaving sweaty mass of blokes bellowing, ‘You don’t make me feel… like I’m a woman anymore!’, as a band – which includes French horn, trumpet and trombone – blasts back at them. But this is Hunters & Collectors, taking a lap of honor a decade-and-a-half from their heyday, and still able to conjure a power that can alternately pin you to the wall.” – The Music

Love for the reformed Hunters & Collectors came late last year with the release of the tribute album Crucible – The Songs of Hunters & Collectors (out now via Liberation).
The 30-track LP comprises 15 originals with 15 original Hunters recordings and saw some of the biggest names in contemporary music including Paul Kelly, The Avalanches, Birds Of Tokyo and The Living End cover their favorite song. They were joined on the disc by two long-time, international fans in Eddie Vedder & Neil Finn. On Crucible… the friends joined forces to perform arguably the Hunters’ most enduring classic, ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me’.

Whether you were too young to have witnessed them live or remember the band’s urgent sound, the extraordinary Hunters & Collectors legacy has never faded. Formed in 1981 in Melbourne and led by front man/guitarist Mark Seymour, across 10 studio albums (such as 1986’s Human Frailty and 1989’s Ghost Nation) the ‘Hunnas’ became renowned the world over for their electrifying, sweat-soaked sound, built up over year upon year of gigs – almost 2,000 shows, in fact. They disbanded in 1998, later inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2005.

With the Rolling Stones’ new dates now announced, New Zealand fans will finally get to come together to celebrate the much loved, five decade-long career of the world’s biggest band. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Woods will deliver their iconic songs and an absolutely huge stadium production to Auckland this Spring.

Ticket holders who are able to attend the rescheduled date need take no action, their existing ticket will remain valid and their location within the venue will remain unchanged.

Fans unable to attend the new shows are asked to secure a refund from their original point of purchase prior to 5pm (local time to the venue) on Monday 28 April, 2014. Refunds can be secured through:
