Fan Club – News Update From Jack
Ghost Nation fan club update from Jack Howard.
Author: Jack Howard.
Date: March 1990.
Welcome, welcome, wilkommen follow ghost, to the Ghost Nation fan club! This is our first ever fan club kit, and we hope you like it. If you have any suggestions or requests, please write and let us know about them.
In this first issue, you’ll find an update on the band’s plans for the year; a player profile (the first in a series), a merchandising catalogue (including the special Ghost Nation Member T-shirt), a sticker, a band photo and a complete discography.
We’ve just completed our longest and most successful Australian tour – thirty-seven shows in Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria, South Australia and the West. Some of the highlights were the sold-out Selinas’ and Palace shows in Sydney and Melbourne, respectively, where we’d put together a great triple bill with the Hummingbirds and the terrific Californian band, Concrete Blonde. In Melbourne, we were joined on backing vocals by Linda and Vicka from the Black Sorrows who were sensational, and who always get us fired up. We played some new towns this time around, including Merimbula, Gosford, Sawtell, and we finished off with an all-age “rage without alcohol” show at the Palace in Melbourne.
Now, we’re trying to recover our sanity and our health before the biggest tour of our career – a fifty four date world mega-tour with Midnight Oil. We arrive in Paris on April 12th, and over the following two and half months, we’ll be performing in France, West Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, England, Canada and the U.S.A. We’ve just signed a major new recording deal overseas with Atlantic Records, who are incredibly enthusiastic about the band, so we’re hoping that these next six months will take the band onto a much higher level on the world scene.
In the meantime, we’ve made a new video for “The Way You Live”, our next single, and we’ve been busy taping for “The Sunday Show” and MTV International. Also, keep an eye out of the March issue of “Rolling Stone”, which has a major article on the band after we scooped the Readers Poll, and “The Good Weekend”, which has a profile of the band.
Our next tour of Australia may be towards the end of the year and by that time we should be starting work on a new album.
In the meantime, tell all of your friends about the club and get them to join too!
Yours ’til the river runs dry.
Jack Howard
Thanks James!
