You’ll be hearing a lot about Hunters and Collectors in 1987 as IRS plans to release two new records: an EP and an LP. With the full album slated for autumn, let’s talk for now about the EP, due in late March, entitled Living Daylight.
The five-stong collection ($5.98 list) was produced by Greg Edward (engineer on R.E.M.’s Lifes Rich Pageant and many John Cougar-Mellencamp LP’s) and contains three brand new songs (“Living Daylight”, “Fireball” and “January Rain”) along with two songs from the band’s Slash LP of ’82 Jaws Of Life, given a few new tweaks.
It’s been 18 months since Hunters & Collectors entered the studio to record their last LP, the highly critically-acclaimed Human Frailty, and we expect that all the ingredients are in order for a smashing mid-year treat. But to simply release an EP would be contrary to the well-known Australian work ethic of H&C.
Never ones to hit and run, these Hunters are troopers and they’ll be coming back to the U.S. for an 8-week tour beginning on April 24 and running until June 20. Look for dates, along with more information on the new EP, in your next I.R.S. mailing.
