Tonight marked that annual event whereby footballer’s wives/partners/girlfriends put on their flashiest dresses and parade down the red carpet at the Crown Palladium – all in the name of the Brownlow Medal.

For some it is a night to remember all the standout performers during the footy season in the lead up to the grand final – while for others it is a monumental waste of TV time slot.

Whatever your feelings – this year’s lead up was opened with a special performance from none other than Missy Higgins and Australian icon Mark Seymour of Hunters & Collectors fame.

Reforming after a splitting back in 1998, the Hunters & Collectors are set to take the field on September 28 for the clash between Hawthorn and Fremantle.

But before their on-field reunion, lead singer Mark Seymour had a helping hand in the form of Missy Higgens – with the pair performing track Throw Your Arms Around Me at the awards ceremony.
