From Mark’s site:
It’s drive time. Voices bleat into telephones from all over the city. The talk back host is a wise and caring man who steers his devotees through the madness of every day life. Some call in and thank him for his insight and the quality of the program. He thanks them gracefully. Some call in to abuse the other callers for being politically biased and the network equally so for letting them speak. The talk back host is scrupulously even handed. Or so he says. He has to be. Big brother is watching. And then there’s the call from a pill head in Dandenong. Says he’s been suicidal. His girl friend left. Host cuts him off.
Radio’s alive with little voices
Calling out across the afternoon
Nothing else to do
Listen to the lonely hearts in every living room
I hang on every word
The guru’s on the air
He cuts them down
When they come too close
He’s such a gracious host
He’s out of this world
Spilling his soul
Bleeding all over the radio
He’s out of this world
Telling their tales
Bleeding all over the radio
Just getting through the day
Conversations rolling on
There’s nothing much to say
Talking suicide
Someone’s ringing up
To share their pain
Turn the volume down
Let’s spread the grief around
They’re out of this world
Spilling their souls
Bleeding all over my radio
They’re out of this world
Telling their tales
Bleeding all over my radio
My invisible friends
Are riding with me
Out of this world
They get me every time
Tuning in and turning on
And hanging in the breeze
There’s one in every crowd
Who loves to play the fool
For bleeding hearts
Oh it sounds like me
That personality
He’s out of this world
Spilling his soul
Bleeding all over my radio
They’re out of this world
Telling their tales
Bleeding all over my radio
My invisible friend
They’re telling their tales
All over my radio
