Greeting Punters

Hello from the road. Mid-January 2025.

I’ve had my doubts about the pubs.. we’ve been nibbling at them for years with mixed success. Not like the old days.. as they say..

People talk. Someone said backstage after the gig at San Remo last Saturday..

‘things have shifted.’

Artists covet festivals, theatres, stadiums but full houses in pubs are a rare trick.. but the first three gigs have been massive dare I say.. and no one is more surprised than me!

Touring Australia as long as I have, you grow thick skinned. But when people turn up to see the band in numbers like we’ve had recently you know the fundamentals are right.

One thing is always true. You never know in this game.

There are always the doomsayers. Right through I’ve listened to people telling me that live music is over.

And sure, touring is what it is.. there are risks.

People get short of money.

But right now, they’re turning up, in droves.. singing, laughing, fully engaged. The pubs are crowded.
