Greetings,

Hello from the end of ’24

I’m not a big fan of looking back but as we approach this Christmas it’s hard not to.

The pandemic feels long gone. From a total catastrophe to a sniffle. It’s as though we’ve come through some kind of test but now, it feels like the world has moved on to war..

As Australians we see war as a distant thing mostly but the suffering of Gaza has shocked me into silence.

Commenting on it would feel like the voice of privilege so I’ve spent most of this year reading about the history of the middle east, trying to figure out how it got to this.

I’ve grown up witnessing it but I’ve never seen anything like the devastation that has erupted this year. It feels biblical.

Then again, ‘there are no secrets anymore’ because Everyone’s got a smart phone. When armies slaughter innocents, word gets out pretty quickly.

Tech changes things. Including music. As I write this lyrics are starting to pop..

At risk of showing my age, the times feel very much like the early ‘70’s when high school kids grew outraged at the carnage of the Vietnam war, simply because images leaked out.

Christmas this year feels especially poignant.

However, we’ll be touring very soon.

Summer touring is always a celebration of life and love and the Lads and myself are heading out across the country once again.

Just a reminder of how important performing is to us.

It’ll be pubs once again..

The Boxer album has been around now for a year..

It is the probably the most personal collection of songs I’ve written since ‘Human Frailty’ back in the early H&C days.

A lot changed for me in the Pandemic and songs popped as a result.

The road beckons. There are plans ahead..
