Greetings Friends,

I hope this letter finds you all well and looking forward to the new year as it rushes towards us all.

It is already February and there is much to tell.

Last time I wrote, the ‘Boxer’ album, was being mastered in Toronto. It is well and truly ready.

The first single, “The Boxer” is due for release on February 22,

And from there, a bunch of singles, ‘Stars of Fitzroy’ ‘Waiting on the Kid,’ “Tenderness’.

The actual album due for release on April 19.

From there we will be touring throughout Australia starting in Kings Park & Botanic Garden, Perth on April 4 through to June 8 at the Corner hotel here in Melbourne.

‘The Boxer’ is a very personal album. Like many Australians the Pandemic was a watershed for me.. Isolation forced me to confront the kind of life I was living.

My marriage to my life partner Jo ended after 29 years as did my artistic relationship with Hunters and Collectors.

I started boxing in the garage, for no other reason than to purge energy and in the process I fell in love with the movement and skill..

I also read Joan Didion.. One line she wrote really stood out..

“the willingness to accept responsibility for one’s own life – is the source from which self-respect springs.”

For me, song writing has always been a marriage of feeling and hard truth, a way of seeing the world and looking ahead.

The boxer album is about picking up the pieces and moving on..
