AFL reveals 2023 Grand Final half-time entertainment
A homegrown superstar is returning to the MCG.
The AFL has announced its half-time entertainment for the 2023 Grand Final, with a host of talented performers set to strut their stuff on the competition’s biggest stage.
Australian superstar Mark Seymour is set to headline the occasion, while Kate Miller-Heidke has been confirmed as a special guest performer and will perform the national anthem prior to the first bounce.
William Barton, a leading didgeridoo player, and Jess Hitchcock, an Indigenous singer-songwriter, will also prominently feature as part of this year’s entertainment.
The legendary Mike Brady will return to the MCG to continue his tradition, performing as this year’s retiring players make their way around the ground.
AFL EGM Commercial and Customer Kylie Rogers was thrilled to have secured Seymour and his band for the league’s biggest occasion.
“Mark Seymour is one of Australia’s most talented singer-songwriters,” she said. “His song Holy Grail is the unofficial anthem of footy finals, it will be an absolute treat to have him perform at half-time for the 100,000 fans in-stadium and the millions watching at home.
“We now have a big international stadium band along with an eclectic and iconic group of homegrown musical talent, ready to put on a fantastic show in and around the biggest game on the Australian sporting calendar.”
Seymour expressed his excitement at being back at the MCG on Grand Final day.
“I’m very excited to be back at the MCG to perform on this great day on our national sporting calendar, and to have the opportunity to sing songs in celebration of our game,” he said.
Internationally acclaimed rock band KISS was earlier announced to headline the Grand Final’s pre-game entertainment.
