The final recording in our 15 recording series is one that will be more familiar. A recording from early in the almighty ‘final’ Say Goodbye tour of 1998. This is the same tour that produced the immensely popular Under One Roof album recorded at Selina’s in Sydney.
The gig here is from early in the Say Goodbye tour. As H&C were inclined to do, they again started the new year in the sweltering north of Australia. Here, they have narrowly crossed the Queensland border to play in Tweed Heads. A ‘regional’ gig.
The final studio album Juggernaut gets a good run – including three songs not featured in Under One Roof – Higher Plane, Good Man Down and When You Fall. Wasted In The Sun, which can be found on the Under One Roof DVD but not CD, is also here. A further four songs are here that missed Under One Roof – Everything’s On Fire, Easy, Dog and the Saints cover Know Your Product.
This particular desk tape was recorded straight to Sony’s Digital Audio Tape (DAT) format in CD quality.
Our desk tape selections complemented the official professional recordings – The Way To Go Out (The Venue, Melbourne, 1984), Living in Large Rooms and Lounges (The Continental and others, 1995), Under One Roof (Selinas, Sydney, 1998) and Live 2014 (The Palais, Melbourne). All can be found on streaming audio, including Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music and Apple Music.
So that is all. Between the four official live releases and fifteen desk tapes, Hunters and Collectors trainspotters now a remarkable live audio history. One that, incredibly, we can still experience courtesy of the Red Hot Summer Tour as you read this post.
Good night… for now!
