In late 1990, Hunters and Collectors released the popular ‘best of’ compilation Collected Works – and naturally followed it up with more touring… and this is a recording from that tour!
The retrospective inspired the band to bring back Talking To A Stranger live for the first time since 1983 (!). The unusual version found here features a reworking of the lyrics – which were later dropped in favour of the original lyrics.
The recording also heavily features tracks from the previous studio album, Ghost Nation. Half of the album is here – When The River Runs Dry, Blind Eye, Crime of Passion, You Stole My Thunder and Ghost Nation. The two latter tracks, while great, are rarer in live recordings.
There is also a glimpse of the future via an early version of Where Do You Go? – a full nine months before it was released as a single!
We had to lose two tracks due to tape issues – 42 Wheels and Love All Over Again. The good news is that both can be found elsewhere in our series.
So we have only two more recordings to go in our Raw Material series… can you tell what is missing…?
