One year after recording the famed The Way To Go Out live album, Hunters and Collectors returned to The Venue with a new bag of tricks.
Here lies the live foundation of the classic rock album Human Frailty. Seven of the ten songs that ended up on the album – plus a future b-side – can all be found here in an early form. We have all bellowed “you don’t make me feel like a woman anymoooore” but few heard it in this era. At this time, few in the audience could even have heard the song!
This is a focused Hunters and Collectors calling out to a broader audience. Half a year later, the single Say Goodbye and album Human Frailty were released and become – by some length – the biggest Hunters and Collectors hits to date. Human Frailty continues collecting accolades to this day: including in the recent Rolling Stone list of the greatest Australian albums of all time.
This is an important part of the Hunters and Collectors story. We hope you enjoy it. And we again thank all in Hunters and Collectors for allowing us to hear these raw recordings.
Our desk tape selections complement the official professional recordings already available – The Way To Go Out (The Venue, Melbourne, 1984), Living in Large Rooms and Lounges (The Continental and others, 1995), Under One Roof (Selinas, Sydney, 1998) and Live 2014 (The Palais, Melbourne). All can be found on streaming audio, including Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music and Apple Music.
