Jack comments from the Reliving Life to the Full album:
Unreleased track from 1996 recordings at The Lodge with Barry Stockley behind the desk. Ash Davies on drums, Nicky Del Rey on guitar, Doug Robertson on bass and Matt Heydon on keys. Rocking little number eventually re-worked for Secrets and White Lies. I think that I like this version better. Another angsty, but optimistic, love lyric. Funny thing is, even though I’m writing about a “she”, sometimes it’s like I’ve cast myself in the female role. (See also the track “Restlessness” on “The Story So Far…”)
Then she emerged from the bedroom
Tall and shining in the night
She wore a green dress and her Italian shoes
And her Evening In Paris perfume
She kissed me hard upon the lips
Took my hand and said we’re going out tonight
Going to the places that we used to go
Where we used to go
Before the fear of flying tied you down
Before the fear of flying tied you to the ground
So she took me by the hand
And she led me to the places where we used to go
Yes she took me by the hand
And we danced to a tune that we used to know
Around and around and around we whirled
Around and around and around
Don’t let that fear of flying tie you down
Don’t let that fear of flying tie you to the ground
Well you can’t trust a prince
And you can’t trust a princess
Well you’re no prince anymore anyway
Just be my man
Don’t let that fear of flying tie you down
Don’t let that fear of flying tie you to the ground
Don’t let that fear of flying tie you down
Don’t let that fear of flying tie you to the ground
