We assume there’s a relationship between cause and effect in public life.
One decision leads to the next one..
We all muddle along..
Believing the big stuff will get settled. Decent housing, schools, health.. etc
But hey.. we give a little. There’s a leap of faith involved.
The boss isn’t always right.. Besides, how hard must it be?
Running a friggin’ country?
Still, as long as the right decisions are made most of the time, by somebody..
And so we vote accordingly, as long as it doesn’t actually make ME uncomfortable, or twitchy.. in ANY way..
I’ll most likely gloss over the gory details..
and let the bleeding hearts worry.
All this.. despite the dead 560. What 560? Old people mate. In aged care.. since the start of the year.. hello? It’s only February..
That’s public health isn’t it?
Let me bring you right down for a just a sec..
You know how they say there are two immutable facts in life?
Death and taxes?
Well, aged care may not be quite up there but it’s bloody close.. unless you die by accident, or a terminal disease..
Still, better to focus on the stuff that lands directly in your lap right? And AGED CARE? Well, let’s face it. That’s sort of well down the track isn’t it? For most of us..
But hey.. it’s coming.. Don’t worry. We’re all going there. You’ve only go to see your parents out..
In the meantime I could list the catastrophic dysfunction on full view right now. You don’t have to go into a facility to find stuff out. There are plenty of facts around..
And there’s Covid of course..
And how’s this? When pressed, Hunt and Morrison actually tried the ‘oh well, they were going to die anyway’ schtick.. Palliative care mate. There was other stuff goin’ on. So what are the numbers then? Got some stats mate? I mean, that’s just an appalling excuse. Hate to pull the Godwin rule but that’s kind of borderline eugenics isn’t it? Survival of the fittest?
Oh well. Whatever it takes you say. You gotta polish the turd somehow.
See there’s a deeper crisis. It’s called WAGES.
Here’s an interesting fact.. You can earn more at Bunnings than caring for old people. What? Like your parents?
Didn’t know that? Neither did I.. but I do now. Maybe I’m like you.. I’m on a pretty good wicket.
So manyana.. The traffic lights still work..
Truth is, the morale amongst aged care workers is shite basically. There’s been this catastrophic churn of labour for years. The fair work commission you say? There’s a case right now. And bingo! The feds won’t support it.. Well, what do you expect? They’re liberals.
People have been getting out as fast as they can. Or getting sick. And why wouldn’t they? The booster programme is a shambles.. Along comes Covid and the shit almost literally hits the fan..
Still, caring for really old people. Someone’s gotta do it..
Right?
So he throws a four hundred dollar bonus at aged care workers.. to see ‘em through to the election, nixes support for a real wage rise, then gets all squeamish about bringing the army in because it looks bad..
Peter Dutton.. Watch this space..
There’s a real problem here mate. It’s called bums on seats. Not enough hands. The system is in crisis. It doesn’t just LOOK bad..
Aged care is rooted. So fix it you dickhead.
So he turns up at a hair salon very soon after to wash somebody’s hair..
in Mount Eliza of all places..
What is this?
The same old punch and judy show. Hey! Look over there. Not at the dead 560..
Or worse.. It’s actually just…
Creepy
