Greetings Stuart Fenech,

Footy’s back. In case you couldn’t tell. Like a lot of people at this time of year, I start making wild predictions about the future in sport. Winter in Melbourne is understandable quiet and the game has a tendency to interrupt your train of thought..

Looking ahead.. we have gigs ‘pencilled in’ up to the end of the year but like all things COVID.. there’ll be no trumpets until we know absolutely that they’re going to happen..

In the meantime, it was a great honour at the end of last month, to join Abby Dobson in a rendition of: “What’s a Few Men?” the old Hunters and Collectors song, one of the better ones in my view, for ‘Music from the Homefront’ on the Nine Network..

I’ve tried in the past to get this one away on a big stage and national television certainly is that. It tells a very personal digger story from the diary of Albert Facey called ‘A Fortunate Life’.

A book well worth reading.

In the meantime, for those of you might be considering getting

‘the jab’..

I just did.

At risk of sounding preachy, there is a collective benefit. As one old bloke said to me outside the VAX centre at Frankston Hospital..

“The more of us who do it.. the easier it will be to keep it under control in the future..”

I just walked up by the way..

Direct from Woollies..

Cheers

Mark Seymour
