Brisbane’s Powerhouse welcomed Mark Seymour for four performances of Dust this weekend – the first time Dust had made it to Brisbane. Written by Donna Jackson, Dust is a moving theatre performance that highlights the products, the people and the heartlessness that surrounds James Hardie asbestos products in Australia. A delightful local choir of 50 individuals featured; having practised for six months for these shows!
The songs with vocals performed were:
- Camellia Dust
- Micronite
- Legend of the Snowmen
- Antarctica
- Fibrolite
- Take It Easy On Me
- Walk Through Fire
- Camellia Dust (reprise)
Of these, only two – Legend of the Snowmen and Walk Through Fire – have been officially released, on the Undertow and Westgate albums, respectively. The use of Walk Through Fire was a particularly unforgettable spine tingling moment in the show.
Make sure to check out Dust supporters Asbestos Related Disease Support Society Qld Inc and CFMEU Construction and General Division Queensland, who are both important organisations in the ongoing fight for safe asbestos practices and a fair go for asbestos victims and their families.
