A supportive crowd gathered to watch Mark close the festival. Mark and the band were in fine form in the late afternoon sunshine of a Queensland winter day.
In particular, Mark gave a bit of background and conversation about some of the songs. As the festival was in support of the RSL, Mark added What’s A Few Men, a song inspired by his reading of the Albert Facey book ‘A Fortunate Life’. In Mark’s words, it was a song he hadn’t played for a couple of years, but it went well and the crowd gave due respect. Lorelei is coming along in an interesting way too – I think the tempo has been slowed a little, with more of a rock edge than Mark’s previous solo versions.
