H&C Raw Material – The Desk Tapes
When it comes to love for the Hunnas outside of Australia, there are certain places that come to mind: New Zealand, Sweden and… Canada. Fortunately for the latter, we have this cracking recording from Toronto.
This is not the well circulated RPM bootleg from 18 November 1986 where Doug taunts the rowdy but highly appreciative crowd with “…and I always thought Toronto was the Lone Ranger’s horse.” This is the return the following year with a fistful of new songs.
All three songs from the Living Daylight EP are here. Songs from the upcoming What’s A Few Men? and Fate albums are rising, including very early versions of Faraway Man and So Long Ago. There is also a rare cover of Getting Older by New Zealand band The Clean. With 19 tracks, there is much to enjoy – and the magnificent Toronto punters lap it up.
Our desk tape selections complement the official professional recordings already available – The Way To Go Out (The Venue, Melbourne, 1984), Living in Large Rooms and Lounges (The Continental and others, 1995), Under One Roof (Selinas, Sydney, 1998) and Live 2014 (The Palais, Melbourne). All can be found on streaming audio, including Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music and Apple Music.
