PETA Wants Hunters & Collectors To Change Its Name And People Can’t Quite Believe It
You will make me change my band’s name, and I’ll shout it to the blue summer sky.
Representatives from animal rights group PETA sent a letter to the members of vintage Australian rock band Hunters & Collectors on Thursday morning “urging” them to consider an “animal-friendly” new name.
“Some might say that the idea of changing the band’s name is for the birds, and PETA would agree”, Ashley Fruno, PETA’s associate director of campaigns, said in a statement. “It’s for the ducks and other birds who are shot, many of whom die slowly from their wounds.”
Hunters & Collectors is set to reunite again, this time for one gig in Adelaide on Saturday March 4.
“By agreeing to change your name, you would help raise awareness of the cruelty inherent in hunting waterbirds and give ducks a fighting chance,” says the letter.
People online did not take kindly to the idea of a name change.
