Eddie Vedder has covered Hunters and Collectors’ “Throw Your Arms Around Me” 17 times during Pearl Jam concerts, most recently at a show in Brisbane, Australia in November of 2009. (That venue jibes with the cover: Hunters and Collectors was a popular Australian group in the 1980s.) Now, Vedder has recorded an official version of the tune, which is part of a new tribute album for the band called “Crucible.” Eighteenth time’s the charm? Well, yes: the cover is great. (Neil Finn helps on vocals, because of course he does.)
Pearl Jam’s new album, “Lightning Bolt,” is out on Oct. 15.
