Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and Crowded House’s Neil Finn (pictured) have teamed up on a Hunters & Collectors cover for a new tribute compilation.

The pair appear on Crucible: The Songs of Hunters & Collectors alongside Alpine, Birds of Tokyo and The Living End. They join an already formidable lineup including Matt Corby, Missy Higgins, Abbe May, Oh Mercy, Paul Kelly, The Rubens, Something For Kate and The Panics.

As FasterLouder reported this week, prolific Melbourne outfit The Avalanches also feature on the compilation, remixing ‘Talking to a Stranger’ from Hunters & Collectors’ 1982 debut. “The remix is cut up with an old disco sample,” said a release from the band’s label Modular, which went to great lengths to point out that it was “not new music from The Avalanches.”

Finn and Vedder have performed together several times, most notably for Finn’s “7 Worlds Collide” project in 2001. Finn also joined Pearl Jam on stage in Christchurch for a rendition of the Crowded House classic ‘Better Be Home Soon’. For the new collection they cover Hunters & Collectors’ ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me’, which they have performed many times in the past.

Crucible pairs 15 cover versions with 15 H&C original recordings. It comes out Friday, September 27 through Liberation. Full list of covers below.
