Hunters & Collectors frontman Mark Seymour joined with fellow Aussie singer-songwriter James Reyne for a medley of songs during their performance for Music From The Home Front over the weekend.

The digital music festival, put on by Michael Gudinski’s Frontier Touring on ANZAC Day, featured dozens of local acts paying tribute to those on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as honouring the ANZACs.

One of the highlights came via Reyne teaming up with Seymour, a founding member of legendary Aussie rock band Hunters & Collectors, for a rousing rendition of ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me’ from a garage together.

The tune was originally released on the band’s 1985 album The Way To Go Out. Seymour led the performance, with the pair joined by some female vocalists for backing.

Following that, Seymour returned the favour for Reyne, providing backing vocals and guitar for an Australian Crawl tune.

They performed 1983 release ‘Reckless’ from the band’s Semantics EP, and were of course, 1.5 metres apart as social distancing rules require.

It was one of over a dozen performances, with other acts to take the virtual stage including members of INXS, Birds Of Tokyo, plus Ben Lee, Courtney Barnett, Crowded House, Dean Lewis, Diesel, DMA’s, Jack River, Jimmy Barnes, Jon Stevens, Kevin Parker, Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins, The Rubens, Tones And I, Vance Joy, and even beloves kids act The Wiggles.

The whole concert aired on Channel Nine locally and Channel Three across the ditch in New Zealand, with hosting duties taken on by Guy Sebastian and Delta Goodrem, who both also performed, as well as Gold104.3’s Christian O’Connell and smoothfm’s David Campbell.

The gig was a ratings hit, with a national peak of 1.419 million viewers across Australia.

If you missed the gig, the entire Music On The Home Front is now available from Nine and Three Now in NZ
